José Malhoa Museum at Caldas da Rainha
The José Malhoa Museum at Caldas da Rainha, tells an immense history and at the same time stories.
Going up the steps of the staircase that lead us to its interior, we cannot imagine that this was designed to be the first building for museological purposes in Portugal.
In the heart of Parque D. Carlos I, the José Malhoa Museum, has a collection of the artist, which includes, for example, the first painting offered by the museum himself – the painting of Queen Dona Leonor, the founder of the city.
Inaugurated in 1940, the museum dedicated to the great naturalist master, also shows us one of the great works of Rafa.el Bordalo Pinheiro – The Passion of Christ, a set of 60 pieces on a human scale.
