Chafariz das Cinco Bicas in Caldas da Rainha
The Chafariz das Cinco Bicas in Caldas da Rainha, is part of a set of three Fountains, inserted in the renovation of the water supply network promoted by King D. João V, himself a user of the waters of Caldas.
It was, moreover, in the sequence of D. João V’s visit to Caldas da Rainha, that at the beginning of the 18th century, in addition to the construction of the three fountains, the renovation of the Termal Hospital was also carried out.
Not satisfied with his work, the King ordered the construction of an Aqueduct (which reached the current Chafariz das Cinco Bicas) for water supply, of which few remains remain, located in the southern zone of Mata Rainha Dona Leonor.
