Ceramics Museum at Caldas da Rainha
The Ceramics Museum in Caldas da Rainha is housed in a 19th-century mansion surrounded by a green garden full of tiles and sculptures.
This elegant building holds collections representing the ceramics produced in the city and in other centres in Portugal and abroad. They include early Caldas pottery from the 17th and 18th centuries (Real Fábrica do Rato) and pieces from the 19th and early 20th centuries.
Highlights include the work of the potter Maria dos Cacos, known for her anthropomorphic tableware, and of Manuel Mafra.
You will also find pieces by the famous master Rafael Bordalo Pinheiro, artistic director of the Caldas da Rainha Faience Factory.
