Climb the dune that was once considered the largest in Europe. Today it is about 50 metres high, and from the top you can see the beautiful bay of São Martinho do Porto.

You can also swim here, at the beach where the River Tornada meets the sea.

At the ruins of the old customs house, caravels for the Portuguese Discoveries are said to have been built in the reigns of Afonso V and João II.

If you don’t feel like climbing the dune, head to the viewpoint in the village for a view over the region.
