Praça da Fruta in Caldas da Rainha
Praça da Fruta is perhaps the most iconic place in Caldas da Rainha today. Right in the city centre, the market opens every day of the year.
It is the only open-air market in Portugal that runs 365 days a year. Here you can buy fresh fruit, vegetables, nuts, bread and cheese.
The square has a beautiful Portuguese pavement dating from 1883, designed by Celestino Rosa and recently restored.
Around it you will find fine examples of Caldas architecture, with tiled façades and the ceramic plaques that name the streets.
